Who We Are
We have been long time members of Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship. It was there that Holy Spirit met us individually and separately and refreshed and renewed us both from lives burnt out by a faulty understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We were married April 20, 2002 and are enjoying the benefits of hearts that are being healed from life’s hurts. Some of the basic truths of the gospel of Jesus, such as the importance of forgiveness, intimacy with God and resting in the love of our Heavenly Daddy, have become life messages for us. We love teaching and imparting these simple truths which have not been rightly understood and appropriated in the lives of so many followers of Jesus.
We try to share transparently, prophetically and humorously with our testimonies and the Word of God how Holy Spirit has been restoring our hearts to be lovers of God first before being servants of God. We have come to know that this is the heart of the Father for every one of his children. The vision statement for our ministry now is “transforming lives through intimate encounters with a loving God”.
One of the most satisfying jobs that we had as part of TACF (and Catch the Fire Ministries - the missions arm of TACF) in the last few years has been to help lead the International Leaders School of Ministry in various parts of the world. These schools impart the four core values that have become central to the current outpouring of Holy Spirit which started in Toronto in January 1994. Those core values are: The Father Heart of God; Intimacy with God and Hearing his Voice; Restoring the Heart hurt by a sinful, fallen world; and Extending the Supernatural Kingdom of God through signs, wonders and miracles.
We have had the privilege of ministering with CTF in countries like Uganda, Ukraine, Nicaragua, Brazil, India, Indonesia and Italy. We have seen many church pastors and leaders radically touched and healed by the work of Holy Spirit through the teaching of these core values and the laying on of hands. We think that these schools are “the best thing since sliced bread!”
We’ve been to a number of countries now with these schools and we can say that without exception everywhere we’ve gone, whether to raving African Pentecostals or to meditative Italian charismatic Catholics, Holy Spirit has used these teachings, our testimonies, and our prayer ministry to take the experience of the grace and truth of the gospel deeper into the hearts of God’s people.
Here are what a couple of students at one recent school said:
Through the teachings, I began to realize the Father was intimately interested in me and was not a distant dad who paid my bills and checked in on me from time to time. He was with me more than any father could. During several of the worship times, I envisioned him taking me under his arm as a dad would his son and the thought warmed my heart. This was my loving Daddy.
It was not about the information, though great information was presented. It was about encountering God in personal ways that left an imprint on my life. And you know, it wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought. I didn’t have to work myself up or try extra hard or pray long hours. I could simply be still and meet with him. His voice has become much more familiar to me since the school.
Our deepest desire as ministers of the gospel is to see people actually experience and encounter the reality of God’s fatherly love for them and the power of Holy Spirit to bring lasting and meaningful change to their lives, rather than an exchange of information from one head to the next. I used to believe that it was imperative that people gain understanding as a prerequisite for their lives to be changed. Now I believe that it is crucial for us to create an environment where people can encounter God spirit to spirit and this is what will bring lasting change. So while cerebral understanding is cool, personal encounter with a personal, living, loving God is so much better.
